Introduction of Xuzhou
Xuzhou, known as Pengcheng previously, is one of the nine oldest states in ancient China. It has a long history of over 5,000 years and the city was built more than 2600 years ago. Located in northwest of Jiangsu Province, Xuzhou has jurisdiction over two cities, four counties and five urban districts. It has a total population of 9.16 million and occupies an area of 11,258 km2, among which the city proper is 1160 km2 with a population of 1.84 million. It ranks first in population and the second in area in Jiangsu Province. Ratified by the State Council, Xuzhou is a National History & Cultural City, National Excellent Tourism City and National Garden City. Xuzhou is one of the centers of the three city circles in Jiangsu Province and high priority is given to the development of the Xuzhou Old Industrial Base. Xuzhou is at the core of Huaihai Economic Zone and one of the five center cities along the Chinese Section of new Eurasian Continental Bridge.
